Greeting Family and Friends,
Welcome to the Whitski Rides blog!! This blog will hopefully provide an avenue for us to share our future adventures with all of you when we aren't able to experience them together.
By now you most likely know that Whitski is a made up last name. It was given to us first by our friend Susie Rupp, but then quickly adopted by our friends in the Portneuf Valley HOG group. Of course, the 'Whit' comes from Torrey's last name and the 'ski' comes from mine. A consequence of a long term relationship that has not yet resulted in a marriage. Riding is what we love to do and it's often when we are at our very best! Countless memories have been made seeing amazing places and doing it with amazing people that we have been blessed to have in our lives.
Today is Torrey's second official day of retirement. After 34 years with the City of Pocatello, thirty-three of which were spent at the waste water treatment plant, Torrey is on to the next phase of his life. More on that to come, but the point is that we're entering a new phase of living. With this change comes a number of new experiences. One of which is this blog.
Neither of us are particularly techno-savvy. We aren't great with social media either, although we do both have a facebook account. We still have a number of friends that, like us, have for one reason or another not joined into the social media networking phenomenon that is now a way of life for so many. As a result, we thought we (mostly me) would try blogging as a way for non-facebookers to check in on us from time to time as we start this new endeavor of Torrey's retirement.
As a new blogger, I'm sure I'm making some mistakes already. Please bear with me as I find the best way for me to do this. For example, and feel free to comment, should blogs be written in first person or third person? You're likely to see both as we move forward with this adventure. I say we, but when it comes to posting, I'm almost certain most of the entries will be written by me. I hope you'll check back often to see what we're up to and that you won't hold it against me if the blog format isn't quite right.
Thanks,
Nicki
