Day 7 - August 12 Pole Bending and Settling In

At 8am we hit the start buttons and headed east towards Glacier Park.  An hour later we stopped for a quick pic at the park gate and headed up the mountain.  Riding temps again seemed perfect at 59 degrees. The National parks are truly a national treasure and again the scenery was unbelievably great.  We had a brief period of riding through mist again.  However this time, instead of being from the ocean it was from the clouds. The road side waterfalls were beautiful and  Haystack Creek and the Weeping Wall were two of the most memorable.  There was even a mountain goat in the study area near the top.  By 10am we had weaved our way above the clouds on Going to the Sun Road and had made it to Logan's Pass Visitor Center.

As we were leaving the parking lot at Logan's pass, Torrey wrapped his bike around a pole that marked the motorcycle parking area.  He wasn't injured and didn't drop the bike.  The post was unscathed.  Unfortunately his bike suffered significant damage, none of which was mechanical in nature.  Torrey and the guys were able to make adjustments that allowed for us to continue on our way.  As we passed through Browning we caught the edge of a spring shower and for about 7-10 minutes we got damp, but we dried quickly.

We rode along the Lewis & Clark Trail to Cutbank.  During lunch calls were made to the Harley dealer nearest to our day of rest in Wisconsin.  Turns out they are open on Monday and with any luck we gave them enough notice that any parts that will be needed that aren't in stock can be ordered.  The CVO has an appointment for repair on Monday.
As we headed for Havre, MT Hwy 2 really opened up.  The skies were blue and the clouds looked puffy like when grade schoolers draw them in pictures. The temps were in the mid 70's and were ideal for riding.  The Montana Big Skies were just that.  The mountains had given way to the plains and there were plenty of wheat fields passing by.  The road reminds me of the type of road Torrey used to find out just how fast his Thunder Mountain would go.  We made good time get some miles under us this afternoon.  We briefly stopped in Malta for a break before we rolled into Glasgow for the night.

Stats for today - Total Miles today: 445;
Time to travel that distance: 10.25 hours
Cumulative miles: 2863
It looks like poker has flopped.
Tomorrow: Cross North Dakota
